What is a Therapy Dog?
Therapy dogs visit nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and other facilities in an attempt to offer comfort, companionship, and a better quality of life for individuals. Handlers and their therapy dogs make people feel less lonely and depressed. They also offer entertainment and a welcome distraction from pain and infirmity. It is a proven fact that people with animals in their lives -- even those that are just visited on a regular basis -- are more cheerful, better adjusted, and even enjoy a better state of overall health.
As an organization, Pleasure of Your Company Therapy Dogs strives to increase the number of well-mannered, well-trained therapy dogs and handlers visiting nursing homes, schools, and hospitals in the Lehigh Valley. We also endeavor to educate the public about the benefits of therapy dogs in the community.
